One of a Kind

Inspired by the geometric ornamentation of Andalusian decorative arts, this large ceramic wall plate is hand-thrown on a traditional potter's wheel using red clay from Úbeda in southern Spain. The intricate lacería pattern is created using the sgraffito technique before being carefully hand-painted with cobalt oxide using a fine brush. A white slip provides a luminous background that enhances the precision and depth of the carved decoration. Fired using traditional ceramic techniques, the piece reflects a centuries-old decorative tradition that continues to define the region's ceramic heritage.

Material: Clay, white slip, cobalt oxide

Technique: Hand-thrown on a traditional potter's wheel, coated with white slip, decorated using the sgraffito technique, hand-painted with cobalt oxide, and fired.
