Carved from prehistoric Irish bog oak, Catch of the Ages is inspired by the image of a fish emerging from an ancient lake that once covered a landscape of mighty oak forests. The deep, obsidian black tone is revealed through the natural preservation of ancient timber buried in oxygen-poor peatlands for millennia. Carbon dated to nearly 5,000 years old, this finite natural material carries a remarkable physical link to Ireland's distant past. Hand-carved and meticulously sanded, the wood reveals a dense texture, rich depth and a naturally sculptural presence.

Materials & Technique

Material: Irish bog oak (Quercus petraea)

Technique: Air-drying, hand-carving, and hand-sanding

Safety & Care: Ensure placement on a solid, stable surface. Keep away from moisture, open flames, and extreme heat. Clean with a soft, dry microfiber cloth without water, detergents, or chemicals.

Certificate: Official Radiocarbon Date Certificate (14CHRONO Centre, Belfast) included.
